But then, you suddenly become aware that it's not really hilarious. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you felt morphs into a sigh.

Or were we just all part of a grand, cosmic prank?

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a case of terrible hair. I couldn't make it to look presentable. As I was running out the door, I stumbled and landed all over the carpet. To make matters worse, I was totally behind schedule for school.

It all started out terribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then it went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to scream into a pillow.
